Hoover Dam and The Hoover Dam Bypass Free in Las Vegas

Just south of Las Vegas you will find one of the wonders of the United States.  The Hoover Dam was built during the depression and cost the live of more that 100 worker to build.  It was previously know as Boulder Dam. There is a visitor’s center and the Dam itself is open for tours.  Because of the importance of the Dam to the economy of the United States the dam has its own security force.  If you want to drive across the dam, your car is subject to inspection.  The dam straddles the boarder of Nevada and Arizona.  Recently the Hoover Dam Bypass was opened.  This is a site unto itself.  The Dam is about 35 miles south of Las Vegas along the way you go through Boulder City.  There are numerous places to have a great breakfast or lunch in Boulder City.  The Main Street has Antique and other stores to visit.

The Hoover Dam is quite a site and it is Free in Las Vegas
